The Story Behind the Creation of Kings of Kirth
A Game is Born
Kings of Kirth was imagined and created by 8-year-old, Misha, and brought to life with the help of his father. Misha made up the game and rules of play, and Dad simply paid attention and helped him bring it to life.
Building the Armies
Misha used the characters from their father-son homebrew campaign for inspiration and designed the miniatures for Kings of Kirth with the help of his Dad. Each army has its own distinct playstyles and abilities reflecting the strengths and lore of each of the Kings.
Balancing Challenge and Fun
We aimed to blend deep tactics with accessible rules. The 14x14 battlefield was created to allow four players to engage in complex maneuvers and intense battles without overwhelming players.
Making the Game Available to Everyone
While playing on their home-made set at home, Misha turned to Dad and said, “Can we make more, and sell them in the game store?” Dad agreed (with Mom) and began working, with Misha involved in every step. Everything from the artwork, to the negotiations with suppliers has been a father-son activity. The most important thing in the end, is that Misha learns that, with hard work, his ideas can become reality. Dad just wants to see Misha’s face when he looks up in the game store and sees HIS game on the shelf.
